I'm looking for instructions on getting into the service mode on this particular model. I deal mostly with Konica-Minolta, Kyocera, HP and Lexmark so I have no idea how to access service on the Savin/Ricoh machines. All of my service manual searches bring me to sites I can buy manuals, so if anyone knows where to find free downloads as well it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you...I was able to get into service mode...it's a little different than what I'm used to. Now we have another issue. The machine started throwing SC 870 and SC 873 codes. From what my research has discovered is that it's a hard drive issue. When I went into SP 5-832 and tried to format the drive it hung (it stayed in the execute question screen for about 10 minutes and I shut it down). Now when I power up it stays on the Please Wait screen and nothing else happens. Any ideas of how to get this working again? Is there firmware that needs to be flashed? If so, how do I get it and how is it done? Any help you can give me on it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!Comment

The only way to get it going again is to replace the HDD. Please wait is a lovely way of a Ricoh saying it's HDD or controller board is shagged. What was the original reason you wanted to go into service mode anyway? It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

My brother-in-law picked one up dirt cheap and wanted to set it up to print and scan on his small office network...but my lack of knowledge on Richo/Savin kept that from happening. I was able to yank the HDD and got it going again (thank God I thought I killed his machine!) but it's still giving the Sc 870 and 873 codes. I'm going to try and format it on the Pc and see if that works...any other resets or service mode locations to clear the codes and to set it up on a network (TCP/IP input location, etc...)? Does this have a web connection I can set all of that up from? Any help you can lend is greatly appreciated...thanks!Comment

870 & 873 are address book errors. Did you re-format the HDD when you replaced it? This may take care of it. Is it a known "working" HDD?
Try initializing the address book with Service mode 5-846-50Comment
