    Ricoh 3228c image defect

Could anyone give me an idea what may be causing a Black Block to print on the center of the page for this printer. I'm going to a client that has this problem and would like to expedite my troubleshooting process. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks All

    Possibilities that spring to mind.

    1. A small scatch on the black drum (PCU).
    2. A small tear on the fusing belt.
    3. A leaking black dev unit.
    4. Dirty optics if it's on copying only.
    • Knowledge not shared, is eventually knowledge that becomes lost... like tears in the rain.

Thanks for the response. I was thinking it might be density patch issue, but it might be a label or something that got adhered to the drum. I'll let you know after I get there and check it out.

It was actually a large Black Splotch going across the page. It turns out the Black Photoconductor Unit has seen better days. Needs replacement.

        Thanks DaZ for the input.
