    2045e blotches on prints

i can see the blotches are coming from the pcu. toner is falling from the top of the pcu on to the drum. i have replaced the transfer unit. drum, blade, charge rollerand cleaning brush. i checked the recycling unit on the top of the pcu and it wasnt blocked or anything. eventhough i still vac'd it. afer cleaning it, blotches appear again after 2 days. will i have to replaced the hwole pcu? developer is new.

seals are likely shot...replace the whole thing and get no more agrivation! we learned the hard way...customer gripping....back and forth to many times...have a good one!
You never realize how cheap a professional is until after you let an amateur do it.... and
if this was an easy thing to do then everybody would be doing it! But it isn't and they are not!!

i agree...its most likely the drum seal...best bet is to change whole pcu that will also help with all that mess at the front of the machine... as a quick temporary fix i replace seal or simply bend it towards the drum once it has not cracked up.

I have had many a seal go as well as seen the toner shutter crack and get out of place causing toner to leak and had to replace the entire frame of the PCU. Also make sure you have thoroughly cleaned the waste toner out of the auger in the PCU and run a full SMC report 5-990-001 to clear up any stragglers that you might have missed or stirred up.

I agree I have seen alot of those seals go south. A 2045 is an older machine so replacing the PCU frame would be the thing I would do.

If you have many of these 35/45ppm in your territory I would suggest you carry spares of those parts in the RBS, pre iKon days i would carry all of those parts and ran across machines that needed them all the time.
Ricoh & Microsoft may pay the bills but Un*x saves my ass every day.
