    MP5500 firmware upgrade

Need some assistance on this please, went to upgrade firmware on one of these to get rid of on-going sc542. Machine is not on network so I used a 128MB SD card formatted to FAT32, containing a folder called romdata which contained a folder called B246 which contained unzipped various .fwu files downloaded from tessa. Powered machine on and after 30 seconds or so it came up with pc card error or no valid data, tried another sd card and got same result-any ideas please.Am i missing something????
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

Don't put them in the B246 folder. Just put them all in romdata with no other directories beneath it.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

Some cheap-o SD cards are not fast enough to load into the copier.

Normally if you just format the SD card than extract the firmware zipped file to the SD card (rt click on firmware select extract all, and browse to the root of SD card drive) the extraction process would give you your romdata folder and model # folder with the firware in that folder.

now if you load more than 1 firmware on the SD card, do the same steps. it will ask you if you want to overwrite a file. the file it want to overwrite is going to be the fireware history or the readme files. you can overwrite these file and but should overwrite your firmware.

          good luck

Silly question (?) Was the card locked?

Most of the firmware are packaged that way. but there have been a handful of times i extracted the firmware and only the firmware was there. so you would have to create the romdata folder and the model # folder for the firmware update to work.

Faster maybe if you are only updating one firmware file. If you are doing multiple firmware files, and use remote update, the machine must reboot between each file where the SD card can do multiple files at a time.
Don't take that toner with me!
