    161spf sd card prob

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and think I asked this question in the wrong area as I recieved 0 responses so I'll try it here. We have a 161 spf that works but the display says SD card authenication failure.....SM says the card may be damaged but not how to check it or what to do about it. Can some one give me some ideas? Thank You

The only thing that occurs to me is to try that card on another similar machine or try another card on that machine.

The SD card is damaged or defective or is the wrong type for that machine. The only thing to do is replace the card. It is usually available as a part. And, as strange as it seems, it will still continue to function.

What SD cards are in your machine?

Or, it could have been used in a different machine. Some SD cards, once they have been installed, are registered to that machine, and will not function in another machine.

          That would be correct.

Nothing is simple anymore!! the pm lists an sd card in the special tools section and 2 differant sd cards in the extension box area. Im not sure if its any of these. These are from the 161spf parts section. which one do I want?

Looking in the SD card slots on the side of the machine, which SD cards are actually inserted? It'll say on the card.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                Hit it.

The only think that goes in the bottom slot is the firmware updating card. It should not be there under normal conditions. The top slot is for the print scan card and that shold have that info printed on the label. If you have print scan then I think the card is in the wrong slot. If you don't have print scan you use a 4MB flash card to update the firmware.

I finally got some time to take another look at this. I borrowed a scan/print sd card from another dealer and tried it in my copier with the same result. It is in the bottom slot, this should be the correct slot. I did not notice this the first time I looked at this but checking the user tools menu I have copy, fax and scan but not print. Could this be a board problem? No SC codes are showing. I dont know where to go from here, any suggestions? Thank You

Scan but no print... gotta be a controller problem.

It means that the problem could lie with the controller itself. If you have a machine with a controller, try swapping it out and see if all the options start working.
