    [Electrical] Aficio 2060 with SC322, SC990

I'm troubleshooting a 2060 with started with random laser 322 errors which later kept permanently. Now it's giving me SC990 codes.

By swapping parts with a working machine, I've ruled out the laser diode, index board, IPU board and control board.

Since the machines are 50km apart, can someone who already experienced this give me some hints on what to try next in order to avoid unnecessary trips?

    Thanks.

    Aficio 2060 with sc322/sc990

In a Ricoh Aficio 2035/2045, the Error code SC990is defined as 'SOFTWARE PERFORMANCE ERROR', I guess it applies to all in that series. Try to reset the software as follows: Shut power off and back on. Press " ./*" and "#" buttons at the same time and hold down for at least 10seconds. When you hear a "Beep", release both. "Now loading, please wait" will display. When "copy" window opens, machine is ready to go. OR Try the SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD: Shut power. Disconnect all external interfaces (Network connections wireless card, USB,parallel printer and firewire cables.) Unplug fax & copy connect kit.Disconnect any external monitoring auditors and monitoring. Remove IC card cover. Insert IC card with software to download into slot of controller. Turn on power. Follow prompts. For operation panel software, start key is red while downloading and green when finished. When done, shut power and remove IC card. For other software, display will show "writing," and "ok" when done. Shut power, remove IC card. Reconnect all items u disconnected earlier. ( NB: Getting hold of the Right manual & Software is Essential.)

Another thing that you could replace is the drum. It also causes SC990 codes. Could also explain laser codes.

Is there any way to remove the entire laser assembly in order to check if all the mirrors and glasses are clean and in position?

Surely there must be a way of removing the entire laser unit from the machine. Just first study the system; I mean it its replaceable part, isn't it? The SC322 is actually SYNC problem in the laser unit. You may have to change the POLYGONAL MIRROR, it comes as a sub- assembly complete with its motor and drive. You are lucky you have a similar machine, you can eliminate the fault by substitution method.

Mrwho, make sure there are no chaffed or pinched wires in the tandem tray assembly (tray 1). I've seen damaged harnesses cause one or more of the PSU lines to go down giving different errors.

Clean the laser synch sensor. It's been a few years, but I used to get synch errors on machines in dusty environments. Just remove the side cover on the bypass side and you'll see the sensor towards the front of the machine.
