Scanner issues when upgrading to windows 7

Hi everyone, I'm getting complaints that when clients upgrade to windows 7 than there are problems getting the scanner to work. We dont have an IT guy, we leave it up to the account to do the hook ups. The machines in question so far are a 2045, and a 161. We would up grade them if that will solve the problems. Any one now about this? thanks

Windows 7 Scan to Folder SMB.pdf

There are many issues with folder scanning with Windows7, especially 64 bit. 32 bit seems to behave. The attached document has some ideas for your customers to try.

Scan to email is another alternative.

I might also suggest adding a seperate user for the scanning function to use, local normal user with a static password (add the exact same user to all machines). I've had situations where the primary 'administrative' user couldn't scan but a seperate regular user would work fine.

If they only scan to e-mail can do without a twain driver?

TWAIN is only required for 'pulling' a scan into an application. Scanning to email or by SMB doesn't require any drivers. As a note the 2045 can only do TWAIN, email and the old and unsupported ScanRouter, the 2045e can do email and SMB. The 161 does TWAIN, email and SMB.
