    Colour difference

    Hi guys,

Basically, the color display has to be calibrated or adjusted so that the colors we have seen in the screen would match in the printout..

This won't correct your prints, but it may help you identify a color problem with the original electronic document.

Download a cool little utility called ColorPic: ColorPic, The Desktop ColorPicker Software
When ColorPic is open, you can hover your cursor over an area of the original, and get RGB or CMYK numbers for that area. Then you can compare those areas to other areas of the original document. ColorPic will let you save color swatches for comparison.

From what you say, I suspect that there is some color variation in the original electronic document, which you are not going to be able to correct for on the MFP. Good luck explaining this to the customer.

      The conversation goes like this:
customer "... but it looks different in this part of the print."
you "With the use of this tool, we can see that the two areas that you are comparing are indeed different colors. See the different number readings?"
customer "Can't you adjust the copier to fix that?"
you "The problem is with the original electronic document, not with the printer."
customer " ... but we can't fix the original. Can't you fix the copier?"
you "The copier isn't broken. It's printing exactly what you're sending it."
and on, and on, and on,
      =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

"well the salesman said it would look just like we wanted.
And it looks nothing like we want so it must be the machine.
        Why don't you fix it?"

"the machine can't correct a file problem maam"

"well then this doesn't do what we want it to and you should have never sold it to us. I told the slaesman that it had to look exactly like we wanted it to and he said that would not be a problem"

"Sorry maam but I didn't tell you this or sell you the machine"
        And on and on

        amendment to Shakespeare

Yeah, sure! And when the salesmen are dead, you're out of (repair) business!
