I have been working on a lanier ld 550c color machine for over two weeks for the same problem. Documents coming out of drawer 1 in portrait position are jamming. When paper does make it through there is a small fold /crease in the middle of the lead edge. The machine doesn't jam if I run letter-r of legal or ledger for that matter. I have replaced fingers, the fuser rollers, entrance and exit plates on the fuser. I cannot tell if the fold/crease is occuring in the fuser or before it enters. I have tried to stop the machine while copying to see if I can determine where the paper is getting caught but have not been successful. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I think you mean 'landscape', right? You mean 11 X 8.5...
Sounds like the paper is skewed or skewing somewhere. Does the problem occur out of the bypass? If not, check skew at pickup, or even paper guides in the feed drawer...or even try that paper in another drawer.
If it still happens thru the bypass, check sync rollers; one of their jobs is to straighten paper...the wider (but shorter) paper is "slipping through the cracks"?Comment

A little folded area in the middle of the leading edge? Time for new feed rollers in tray 1 by the sound of it. When the seperation roller gets bald it can create a little telltale fold in the middle of the lead edge and a delay in paper feed. The result is a fuser / exit jam.Comment
