How to reset the REPLACE PCU Error message.

Hi to u all guys there. I have got this Gestetner Dsm415mpf displaying REPLACE THE PHOTO CONDUCTOR UNIT. I did replace the drum and cleaner blade properly, however it is still showing the same message. I have tried to clear the message in the SP service mode but it has refused to go away. What am I not doing right! I confess I was using the INTRAVIAs service guide for the Dsm615 which I suppose should not be too different from the Dsm415mfp.
How do I CLEAR THIS MESSAGE. Thank u all in advance.

I'm not sure but there should be option Initialize Developer in service mode. I don't remember which model was doing but after that I got rid of message.

615 and 415 are different animals. but 2214(developer autotone) will reset the pcu signal. beware that you are resetting the dev setting and not replacing the developer this can cause cq problems in a few days. 415 uses a pcu assy and the 615 is a pcu/developer replace individually.

I agree with Jomama46. Replace developer and you won't get headache.

        Cheers

Thanks a lot guys for the leads. I actually did try to initialize the developer and the machine indicated that it had COMPLETED the process. I then power cycled the machine but same problem. I also do admit that I changed the pcu individually i.e drum and blade, as opposed to a pcu assy, didn't Change developer. Of course I will try the Jomama suggestions and let u know, more help from other members is highly appreciated.

These PCU's use a gear and electrical tabs to let the machine know when a new one is put in. I believe the gear is near the front. There's two metal tabs that are sprung out. You have to push them in while turning the gear to lock them back in place. Once you do that, then when the machine turns back on again, it will see the connection and reset that message. the gear will also turn to spring those back out.

Hey guyz thank you all very much for your inputs. I managed to clear the error message, using 'geardriven,s" formula above. It did reset the machine instantly, its up and rolling. Thank you all once again.
