    Ricoh Aficio 1045 sc405 & sc670

Ive just been to a 1045 that kept saying add toner.
Changed toner bottle, then hopper, then toner motor, then dev unit and drum unit. Set id intialise. & td sensor etc. still said add toner.
Finally I cleared NVRAM and reset everything.
This worked but now I get SC405 every 10 or so copies and sometimes sc670. I have cleaned and checked transfer belt unit and cleaned belt soleniod clutch sensor.
Came away after spending too long on site today. Will go back tommorrow.
Any ideas anyone? This is a weird one I know.
    Any help very appreciated.
    Thanks, Lea

The SC405 is some sort of transfer belt error. The SC670 is an engine response error. Both these errors combined with false add toner indications all points to bad BICU. My reference also suggests a bad finisher board (does it have a finisher?). Shorted finisher boards are know to cause some very strange problems.

These are all very different problems, and its very unlikely that they all popped up at once.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        sc670 & sc405 fixed!

Just to let you know, ive sorted this fault.

The gear that drives the transfer belt solenoid clutch (behind the flywheel) was seized and conciquently, slowing the drive (sc670) and also altering the timing of the solenoid cam/sensor flag. (sc405)

Thanks for the advise and I now know that finishers can cause strange fault codes even though in this case, it wasn't that.
