I'm having trouble understanding what is required in each of the fields when setting up a Ricoh SP C231SF MFP to 'scan to folder'. Until recently, the MFP was working fine under USB, but the recent Lion upgrade put a stop to that and Ricoh seem unable to help.
I've set up a scan folder and made the necessary sharing arrangements using SMB, but I don't understand what is required in each field block. These are my best guesses so far (bold entries indicate exactly what is in the cells):
One touch Button: 1 (I'm hoping this will allow me not to have to type the name of the folder?)
Full Name (Required): Scans Folder (this is not the same as the folder on the Mac, which is just called 'Scans')
Service Name (Required): xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (the actual IP address for the Mac from the System Preferences pane) followed by Macintosh HD
Domain (Optional): blank
User Name (Optional): blank
Password (Optional): xxxxxxxx (the password that I think is correct - but I don't know how to check what it might be)
Directory (Optional): Users\username\Documents\Scans
File Format for Color/Gray: JPEG
File Format for B/W: TIFF
At the moment on the MFP, I press the 'Scan' button, press 'Address Book', start to type the address (just press 7, when 'Scans Folder' appears), press 'OK', and P:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (i.e the Mac's IP address) appears. I then press the 'Copy' button, which should send the scan to the MFP. I get the message "Connected to Server", but nothing happens. The after a short delay, I get "Server Connection Failed".
Sorry for being so thick about all of this, but I can't make head or tail of what should go in what box, whether a password is actually required, or what else I've done wrong. I've been trying to resolve this scanning issue for about three days now, so any help you can provide would be VERY much appreciated!
