Infotec 5221z - light copy problem

Hi all. So i changed the drum for this machine, cleaned all the mirrors, but in "auto mode" i get almost a blank copy, with very little signs of the original. when i change the contrast to darker, it copies well, but the copy is a bit brighter than the original. So my question is this : how can i get this copier to copy normal in auto mode? And also, how can i adjust the "default" contrast in this machine? So when it starts, all the user has to do is hit de copy buton, without adjusting the contrast every time. Thanks.

Re: Infotec 5221z - light copy problem

Hi, this is from the manual, hope it helps.

    10. COPY QUALITY ADJUSTMENT
    10.1 LIGHT INTENSITY ADJUSTMENT(SP4-001)
When: When replacing the drum - After performing
SP3-123 (Drum initialization) and before exiting
    SP mode.
Purpose: To maintain the correct light intensity.
Adjustment standard: Level 2 of the gray scale on theOS-A3 test chart
should be just visible on the copy when the 4th
manual image density level is selected.
How: SP4-001 changes the exposure lamp voltage
from the ac drive circuit on the dc power supply
    board.
NOTE: Whenreplacing the drum, light intensity adjustment should be done
    only after performing SP3-123.
If the light intensity is adjusted, ADS gain data andVL correction data
are cleared. Therefore, after the light intensityadjustment, auto ADS
gain adjustment (SP4-201) and forced VL detection (SP3-105) must
    be performed.
See "Practical SP Mode Use Tables" insection 4 for the exact order
in which SP modes must be done after changing majorcomponents.
    1. Turn the main switch off.
    2. Clean the following parts:
    Item No. Section Method
    (1)
    Optics (mirrors, lens, reflectors,and
    exposure glass)
    Damp cotton, and blower brush
    (2)
Drum charge roller Dry cloth orspecial cloth
    (P/N A1539004)
    (3)
Toner shield glass and green filter,
    and erase lamp unit
    Dry cloth and blower brush
    3. Place an OS-A3 chart on the exposure glass.
    4. Make a full size copy at manual image densitylevel 4 (center) after the
    copier has warmed up.
    5. Check that level 2 of the gray scale is justvisible on the 6. If the image density is not correct, go through the followingsteps.
    1) Enter SP4-001.
    2) Change the exposure lamp voltage setting displayedin the
reduce/enlarge indicator. Use the number keys andfollow these rules:
If image density is too dark, increase the setting
If image density is too light, decrease the setting
NOTE: Thevoltage can be set between 50 and 75 V in 0.5 V steps. The
default setting is on the "SP MODE FACTORYSETTING DATA"
sheet located in the upper inner cover.
    3) Leave SP mode and make a copy at manual imagedensity level 4.
    4) Check whether the image density is correct or not.If it is not, repeat
the above steps from (1) to (3).
    7. Perform ADS gain adjustment (SP4-201) and forced VL detection
    (SP3-105).
NOTE: If the image density cannot be adjustedsatisfactorily, adjust the development bias using SP2-201-001 (see section10-3).

Wow. That's some big help. Many thanks. But still one problem left : i don't know how to enter service mode. I would really appreciate if you could post a download link for the service manual. Thanks in advance.

        Try this---

        2. SERVICE PROGRAM MODE
        2.1 SERVICE PROGRAM MODE OPERATION
The service program (SP) mode is used to check electrical data, change
        modes, and adjust settings.
2.1.1 Service Program Mode Access Procedure
How to enter the SP mode
Press the following keys in sequence.
        NOTE:
        1. The above procedure must be finished within 20 seconds.
        2. Hold the final key for more than 3 seconds .
        3. When SP mode is selected , "1" blinks in the 3rd digit of the copy
counter, the Auto Image Density indicator starts blinking, and the
        reduce/enlarge indicator turns off.
How to leave the SP mode
        Press the key three times,
or turn off the main switch.
        NOTE:
The above procedure must be finished within 20 seconds.

What exactly does this procedure do? Sorry for bugging you with all these questions, but i don't know this copier well and i want to make it right the first time.

Ok. So i've managed to enter service mode. I have only one question now : how do i navigate between SP modes? For example, after entering service mode, how do i ge to SP3-123 ( for initializing drum)?
