big trouble on my mp c2500

    Hi there,

I had serious trouble with my mp c2500. when i print using plain paper/special paper type in tray 1 there is no trouble about it. but if i try use it in tray 2 or bypass tray (with all kind of paper and all position - landscape/portrait), the sc 491 error code show up directly on display. I guess there is some trouble with the paper transfer roll (i have no info about the part's name). Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks a lot

It's a High Voltage error. Could be drum/developer voltage problem, or something is wrong with the transfer voltage.
Check all connections. As a last resort, replace the High Voltage board.

It's obviously gunna be one of the colour units. Is this the initial problem or was it created while doing other work?

even just one single work. at first it get well when delivered half of paper into first roll (try it in bypass tray). then the warming process up is on (no idea what name of the process is). then when it going to the next process, the error code is directly show up (sc 491). not the same way if i try it using b/w mode

Time to call in a technician methinks, sounds like this little beastie needs a bit of digging around.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

              Hit it.

This statement confuses me. Does it really do all things including color printing and so on out if tray 1 ?
This would imply, that hvt, dev and drum units are all ok.

Just a shot on the dark:

i had something similar on another brand years ago: a solenoid of a feed unit touched a scratched insulation of a wire while activated, resulting in a short circuit of a 24v dc powerline. The box throws a laser error, cost me days to find that out. Maybe its something like this.

Excellent advice, thank you. Could you tell me where the solinoid was located?

That would be the simplest way to get the ball rolling.
