What would cause the Ricoh Aficio 2027SP to not add toner when there is toner in the cartridge and the toner hopper is turning?

The "plug" from the previous toner bottle remains in the mouth of the toner hopper, blocking the flow from the new cartridge? The "Slider" mechanism is not sliding properly and allowing the 'teeth' to expand and grasp the toner bottle when installed
OR TD sensor is shot on PCU? Is it OEM Toner? Is it OEM PCU?
A Few more details perhaps

replace dev with type28 replace dev mag roller gears remoce crap ( technical discription ) from in front of drum blade. if all that fails replace hopper and and then pcu. good luck

I agree sometimes the plug stays in the toner hopper I would start by removing the toner hopper and pushing the toner shoot on the PCU (left front side were the toner falls in) look to see if the toner is backed up. that will tell you if the gears on the PCU are bad if you don't see a pile of toner it probably in the toner hopper. those PCU are notorious for failing.

X3 on the toner hopper. The mylars inside fall off and cause this problem.

i had one where the customer put in a bottle that was from differant machine that was just alittle shorter, and hopper wasn't grabbing bottle

otherwise i agree with prior comments
