Having a problem getting in to service mode. Clear modes> 1 0 7> clear stop works. The problem is when I select, say "copy sp", nothing happens. Just beeps at me. What am I missing here?

There's a function on the machine locked in some kind of prompt wait. Try going to every function and hold down the yellow Clear and red Stop button until you hear the laser fans start to run, then try getting into service mode. Until whatever function gets cleared, or gets the prompt it's waiting for, nothing will happen.

I just had a similar issue resolved by replacing the touch panel. Has the customer had any problems with the touch panel not responding to input?

Right now the display says: "fusing oil almost empty" and "replace fusing oil unit". Would this have anything to do with my issue? I should be receiving it in today and will go out to install. Can you elaborate on exactly what you mean by going to every function. Do you mean selecting, say copy sp, while holding down the keys?

`fuser oil`message has nothing to do with it for sure. This may be a silly suggestion, but I recently had the exact problem on a 3245C, and simply rebooting the machine solved it for me . Have you tried that?

Not a silly question. I should have at least done that. I know better. Will try that when I return. Thanks for bringing me back to earth.

What exactly does * and # do? Do you need to reprogram anything after doing this? And how exactly to you do it. Do you hold them down when you power on?

yes, when power on and machine ready, its only a soft reset, nothing to do after it

This might sound silly but when you get the screen where it says copy sp printer sp etc, open the front door then try to enter the Copy SP. If you go in while the door is open then something is stuck trying to process which is why it won't go in while the machine is working. Opening the door will stop whatever process its trying to complete which should let you into the SP, you can close the door once your in the service mode.

I am a little embarrassed to post this, but its the right thing to do. Turning the machine off and on worked. I was trying to print the logging data. I have that now. Machine has 1 million on it and the color reg will not perform. Told them cost would be too much to fix. THANKS everyone for your response.
