Check the fuser fingers. The tensioner springs fall off these all the time and the fingers sit in the paper path. If the customer only uses long edge feed paper you can safely remove the middle finger (the engineers saying something to us techs?) and the machine will run much better.

I always use the springs from the 2045.

Change the hot roller for a start. The teflon wears out and toner builds up on the surface of the hot roller causing the paper to stick.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

The separators has been modified ages ago but they still can be pushed out by a paper jam and then they do force jams.

I made very good experiences with this modifications:

          Hardware:

          - There's a metal plate with a white roller at each separator - just bend it a little so the white roller touches gently the separator
          - after getting an "OK" from the customer: secure the paper side fences inside the cassette with screws to avoid askew feeding

          Software:

          - set the leading edge erase margin in SP mode to at least 5mm

These mods are also helpful for the newer generations of the same engine like MP2000.
