Re: ricoh mpc6501- problem Tandem Tray
Tray 1 should show a tandem tray symbol, not a single tray. Check sp5959-1, should be set to "0".Comment

Re: ricoh mpc6501- problem Tandem Tray
that's odd, the symbol for tray 1 must indeed look different. You might take a look at the non-default smc page and compare the values with the factory SP sheet - maybe there's another setting wrong. Does the issue occure out of nothing or after a repair/maintanance service visit?Comment

Re: ricoh mpc6501- problem Tandem Tray
My first question would be did it work before. Is this a new install and it never worked, or was it working and now its not. If it never worked I would go through the service manual and reset the sp5959 to paper size and restart machine restarting it is supposed to set the display properly.
Now if it worked before and now its not then i would take both sides out and inspect the connecters on the machine side and on the tray sides. Check the rear fence on the right tray, the ones that move when paper is being transfered over, if thats broke at all it may not be actuating the sensor, id inspect the wiring and pieces on the rear of the tray for any broken parts, loose sensors, or kinked wires. then turn the machine off and reassemble trays make sure they are on the rails ok, push them in and turn the machine back on.
I didnt see any firmware releases for tandem tray issues so if it worked before then something broke or paperdust/paper chunks are stuck in the rear. If it never worked it could be some sp settings that need set up right.
Thats my thought, otherwise swipe a tray from another machine and see if its still not working, if another tray works then you definatly have something wrong with the tray itself.Comment

Re: ricoh mpc6501- problem Tandem Tray
This is a strange display to me (looking at posted picture). I do note the lack of tray 1 showing to be the tandem tray , and it looks like an external option tray also is attached. But go beyond that and the only paper size listed is for tray 3 ? Seems really odd.
So I did a search on A4/LEF since that is the only thing showing on display and up popped a firmware fix for system/copy. It reads as follows
The A4 (LEF) paper size appears on the display, even though this size cannot be fed
from Tray 3 on the D081/D082.
Location of this display: [User Tools] -> [System Settings] -> [Tray Paper Settings] ->
[Tray paper size: Tray3]

Sorry I don't have no new ideas. I'd recommend requesting a ricoh tech/contacting ricoh product support since your customer is probably very very annoyed by now. The only thing you could try is scanning all SMC lists and upload them here so we can have a look.Comment
