Ricoh FT3513 says needs toner, has new toner

We have a customer still in love with 2 old Ricoh FT3513 copiers. Their toner light has come on, now on both of them. After adding toner, the light will not go out and machine will not operate. We have replaced toner density sensor in one of them. Thinking of changing developer. The strange thing is that this has happened on both machines. Only difference from the past is that our supply lady is now supplying generic toner to them, which is out of my hands unless we can say that this causes a problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Suspect wrong toner.

It seems the obvious answer to me that the wrong toner is installed. It's easy to get confused between TYPE 310 & TYPE 320 toner. The FT3513 FT3713 FT3013 & FT3213 all take the TYPE 320 where as the FT3113 & FT3313 take TYPE 310.

They look very similar but the coupling at the rear is diferent and I believe the toner itself is different material. When you fit the correct toner you might have to fit new dev to both machines although you could try running sky shots with the lid up to flush out any of the wrong toner that may have contaminated the developer. If you do run sky shots, make sure that you cover at least the first inch of the lead edge of the glass (against the scale) with white paper to give a clean edge and thus preventing a jam in the fusing unit.

    Good Luck.

      OEM please.....

I'm with Lea on this one.

If you can still get OEM Ricoh toner use that with a developer change. I haven't had many good experiences with generic toner.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
