Need scan to folder ricoh 3010 on vista

Customer wants scan to folder on vista
I have followed every post and every guide ive found for vista or 7 none work. The only thing I havent tried is firmware update
as we are a refurbisher not a dealer we don't have access to ricoh directly to get the firmware.

Scan
D3105384A R4_2.03

if anyone has the right firmwares for this id appreciate it if they shared

or more tips on making this work in vista

Don't worry about the scan firmware, it's this one that you need:

D3105384F.exe

Additionally, make sure that you've added "Everyone" for the folder permissions and set the Network & Sharing Centre advanced settings correctly.

Let me know if you're still struggling and I can check what they should be on my Vista laptop.

The firmware goes on the photocopier, not the PC. It does work to Windows 7 though, yes.

But what i understand is that ,without upgrade to the latest firmware for af3030 ,for scanning to smb is not possible for win7 ? Or with this installer,scan to SMB will became possible without upgrade the machine firmware?

You need to upgrade the firmware for both Vista and 7.

Both Vista and Windows 7 use the same version of CIFS (SMB in the Windows world) which requires a higher level of security than you had in XP and earlier versions of Windows. By default, a higher layer of encryption is required for authentication credentials now. All Ricoh machines from the 3xxx family onwards can support the new format with firmware, but without the latest and greatest installed it cannot be done.

I prefer Scan-to-FTP using FileZilla Server (Freeware). It's way more reliable since it's harder for the customer to mess around with folder settings. Customer can even delete the folder and re-create it without setting up new permissions. The logging screen of the FTP tool is very helpful if something doesn't work right, too. But the other guys are right that the network firmware needs to be up to date in order to get SMB scan running with newer windows OS at all.

Btw. who calls himself a refurbisher while having no clue how to update the firmware? I feel very sorry for the customers.

You also need to change the encryption level in the advanced networking options to 40 or 56 bit.

To be fair, he said that he doesn't have access to the firmware, not that he doesn't know how do it.

Well, I might get his answeres wrong but for my understanding he obviously has no true idea what to do with the provided file. But I agree that was indeed not really foreseeable in his initial post.
