    Lanier LD445C

Got a good fax problem here. Recieve works fine. dialing doesn't. You hit on hook mode, hear dial tone..push button, here the tone but it doesn't stop the dial tone. It will do this all day long. change tone to pulse dial and it works fine. Hooked up handset to the phone line and all is good. Hook handet up to tel on machine and it works fine. It's just when you try to dial on machine using tone dial and not pulse. The phone line is plugged into line jack. replaced FCU to no avail. turned off dial tone detection and no help. Any good ideas on this one?
Going to temporarily fix them by leaving it on pulse dial.

Tried a new fax lead? Might have gotten stretched or tweaked.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Are there any other fax machines in the same place having issues? Can you try moving one to see if the problem remains? This sounds more like a problem with the phone line than with the machine.

I was thinking the same thing until I hooked up my handset and it worked on tone dialing on that exact line using that exact cord.I'm really confused. The only time that phone line isn't working is when i try to dial using this machine in tone mode.

Two things that do spring to mind...

Make sure the cord is connected to "LINE" and not "TEL" on the fax board (ignore this, didn't read your original post thoroughly enough)

Check the fax parameters to make sure that it's configured for the correct country, different countries have different telephony standards and the tones produced may not be the correct ones for where you are.

Also check that the fax is set for PSTN or PABX as applicable to whatever the customer is using.

            That is a weird one...
It's strange glitches like this that I usually try the old hold '.' and '#' for 10-12 seconds to reset the machine and see if that helps

ok, brought in a new machine (lf225) and it's doing the same, so it is in their phone system. Client is happy with putting it on pulse dial. Wierd!!!

So long as it works, great! Just to make the machine extra happy, be sure to turn off ECM as well.
