Re: Print Driver Slow - MPc4000
The PCL6 Universal driver was known to have this issue in a mixed architecture environment (x86/x64). The latest version of this driver (3.10.1.0) should resolve it.

Re: Print Driver Slow - MPc4000
Have you tried installing the driver on one of their workstations to print direct to the printer or you are just assuming it will be all right?
In the past I've seen problems with the network speed being the issue. Try different settings to see if it makes a difference. Also you didn't mention but I am assuming that you already tried printing from your laptop direct to the machine to confirm that it is not a machine setting.Leave a comment:

Have you tried turning SNMP off on the machine and the driver? You might also want to try configuring the port for LPR, after all it is still Ricoh's recommended configuration.Leave a comment:

Easy for you to say! This is the customer with the CAP V2, the Java card, fusing problems on their letterhead, a back-ordered MPc5502...it's been an unmitigated disaster and I am the the only thing stopping them from cancelling the whole deal.
Yes, I really can be that nice when I try.
Or split the task with him...2 people installing 70 local printers is better than you on yer Pat Malone.Leave a comment:

Ugh. In that case, it's well in the customer's hands.Leave a comment:

I've got an awful feeling that this'll be 70 users with local drivers!Leave a comment:

Re: Print Driver Slow - MPc4000
Only reasons I've had this before were the port setup on the shared driver on the server. Is it pointing to the machine's IP or the hostname? Also, the port was set up to something other than a Standard TCP/IP port.Leave a comment:

Print Driver Slow - MPc4000
Evening All!
I'm having a problem with 3 drivers, the PCL5, PCL6 and PCL6 for Universal Print.
When the customer tries to print, and it doesn't matter what program they're using, the message "Connecting to printer" is displayed for anything up to 15 seconds or so.
They're printing from Windows 7 or XP machines, all 32-bit, via a share on a Windows 2008 R2 server.
Also, I have unchecked the "Automatically Update Printer Information" box in case it was interrogating the printer each time.
I would try the RPCS driver but they're about to get an MPc5502 as well and this doesn't have that driver.
Has anybody had this before and got around it?
Cheers,
Chris
