Re: ricoh is760d scan count
As Shadow1 stated, it is a pain unless you work on them constantly and get the hang of it. Attached are 2 pages from the manual with the info laid out that Shadow described. Basically the output is binary and you are just converting to decimal the place settings with each position of the rotary switch.
*Use the second table, DIP switch setting table (service level test mode). Ignore the first.

Re: ricoh is760d scan count
There are 2 ways - if the scanner is hooked up via SCSI or USB then find a copy of Ricoh's Scan Probe software - it's by far the easiest, and lets you do some other useful functions.
If not, or you can't find the software (I don't remember where I got it - sorry) there is a procedure with the dip switches and SCSI address select wheel, but it's a major pain in the neck... and various other parts of the anatomy.
With all switches off except SW5 the machine will read out the ADF counter (more on that in a minute)
SW5 and SW6 on will read out the second side ADF count
SW5 and SW8 will read out the platen count.
To actually read the counter rotate the SCSI ID switch to 1 in order to read the ones position in the counter, 2 to read the ten's place, etc. up to 7 to read the millions. The value is output using the status lights on the front in BCD with the power light being the Most Significant bit, and the error being least significant.
In essence, the power light has a value of 8, Busy = 4, Document Set = 2, Error = 1. Add up values of the LED's that are lit and that's the value of that place - write it down. Rotate the knob to the next higher number and read that value, write it down to the left of your last digit, and keep building up the counter.
Flip the dip switches for the next counter and repeat starting with 1 on the SCSI wheel again. Add the counters together for your total.
Yes it's a pain.
Did you understand all that? Don't worry, nobody else does either.Leave a comment:
