    Re: MPc 5502 colour reg

    Hi all

So, looks like we have finally nailed this one down. I replaced the ID sensor on Thursday, but did not work. I struggle to get the colour reg in, but it turns out I hadn't initiallized the id sensors after replacing them. I had entered the values that come with the new set. Anyway, it still continued to go out of registration after all this. After a phone call to Ricoh they sugested that it may be the transfer unit ( which had been put forward by some of the folks in this thread ) . One of my colleagues went there on Friday with a new ITB and that seems to have done the trick, haven't heard from the customer as yet.

So I wonder how long before we'll have any sort of recognition from Ricoh that there is a problem with the ITB on these machines? I'll give Ricoh some feedback on this and hopefully if they get enough feedback on this problem they may put out some sort of bulletin....

Thanks to everyone for their input
    Cheers

        Hi
Yep we'll be doing a warranty, as the machine was brand new, less than 20k on the clock.
The part number we used was D1446011, but I think that is the usual no. for this as there doesn't seem to be any mod's on it as yet

        Cheers

I am awaiting a ITB unit to turn up today for this problem, I think it is a timing issue, so probably a issuer with the timing wheel for the belt.

As I said earlier, I wonder if something inside the ITB is shifting during delivery?

                Re: MPc 5502 colour reg

A tech on my team was fighting the same reg issue. He replaced the belt & it lasted about 3 weeks. He replaced it again & it went almost a week.

I went out with him & we never could get it spot on thru Sp mode so we ordered the MUSIC array & a new ITB assy.

I'm leaning towards the MUSIC array as well because the machine thought the color reg was successful, but the internal color test chart showed traces of yellow in the blanks between the color blocks on the green. It didn't matter if we did the UT or the SP registration. After several attempts the alignment was still off. You had to look closely, but you didn't need a loop to see the yellow.

It's been almost 6 weeks now, so far - so good. Except for that fact that we aren't the only ones who've seen this.

I had the same result, with the result showing OK, but clearly the colours were a mil. adrift from each other. The chap a Ricoh found this odd, he too though that there maybe some sort of fault with the encoder assy, he said that he had one previously where the wheel inside the encoder assy had come adrift, not sure it was on this same model though. I'm no Columbo, but I think that the encoder assy is the main suspect here.....

Not the actual part from the machine, but just to give the folks who have no idea what I'm on about a clue....
