First thing to check is - did you confirm the fax number as actually being the one for that particular line? I had a call like that, customer kept insisting it was correct number. Turned out not to be, they forgot about the recent switch to a new carrier and was assigned a new number. Call your cell from from the MFP and see if you can confirm it on your caller ID. The next step is to unplug the fax line and connect a handset to the wall jack (I carry one pulled from an old fax). Call the number again and if you still get a busy signal, toss it back on the customers lap.
