3228C randomly starts printing everything double-sided.

I have a customer with 5 computers. A couple a days ago it starts to print everything double-sided from all computers. I checked (via webmin) that the printer was set to duplex "off" (which it was) and had them reboot the machine. Same problem. Any idea why this would happen? I can't remember how to reset the printer part of the machine. (hold down * or something?)Thanks

There should be a duplex option under the printer features section. Also double check if they are printing through a server that the server settings in the print driver is not defaulted to duplex.

I had them check the printer features setting and it was set to duplex [OFF]. Also they are directly printing to the copier via tcp/ip.

Applicaton overrides driver, overrides machine.... sound like the application!

I doubt it. I'll double check when I'm there tomorrow, but all the computers would't start doing it at the same time.

If it was the same document with driver preferences stored in the doc (usually a Microsoft Office app), yes, any number of computers could produce the same affect. "Here, I'll print that doc for you ... wow, my computer did the same thing? All computers are probably simultaneously broken." =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I'll post back tomorrow. (worst case I'll unplug the duplexer )

If they're having an issue with PDFs doing this, it may be a setting that Adobe is putting in: some of the 10.1.x reader versions conveniently decide to automatically print jobs in duplex if the feature is available whether you have it set in the driver or not.

Usually application:Microsoft products page set-up overrides driver settings etc. Adobe released an update a little while ago that meant everything printed from reader would be printed in duplex.http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pr...e/4161507These are a couple of links to the problem if it is with adobe reader.

Went there today and no problem found. Fun... I'm assuming something weird with the whatever program they are were using. No one was there to confirm or deny anything.

I haven't read every thread, someone else may have suggested the following: Sounds like I.T. may have allocated a second printer driver to the same printer. The second printer driver may have duplex settings and non-default settings for special purposes. All P.C.'s could be using this second default driver. This is common for customers using old software on their PC's so they can use the lastest modern printers. You may like to check Userstools| printer | driver/command options on the MFD.

                              Tinfox has a massive tool...but I digress.

I'd see whether the fault reoccurs, try it from a laptop via a crossover cable, then rip out all traces of the drivers and start from scratch.

It's most likely an application issue though - try a few different applications.

Finally, some of the most up-to-date drivers such as the latest Universal Print driver come with duplex on as default.

Finally finally, has an edited version of the print driver been installed, maybe for pop-ups for using user codes. These can cause some odd faults if a non-edited version is also installed.
