    Ricoh c3235 copy quality problem

On and off problem with banding. Tends to happen only when running full color or single color (c,m,y). The bands are going from top to bottom, no specific interaval. The paper is 28lb white. Of course it use to run fine, but the last 3-6 months it has been a problem. All drums and dv's have been replaced. Cleaned all transfer belt drive rollers. Whenever the cq happens it always makes a certain noise, hard to explain what it sounds like. Thought it might be the transfer belt slipping a tad bit. Sometimes the color registration is off in no partical area of the image. Next time I will get a copy and attach it.

You might try the color developer drive clutch. I've not had the problem, but it could be the clutch failing or being dirty. Also check the drive train for the color units if it is not one specific color. It could be a cracked gear or damaged teeth. You might want to pull the back cover off and watch while it runs to isolate the problem.
