What happens, if you apply some force to the front left edge of the scanner house? Try pushing and pulling with moderate force, what happens?

@tcs04: "Have checked the mirrors positions by lining them up with the locator points in the scanner."

If you say printing is fine, it has to be optical! And it will then also happen out of all trays.

Are you sure the scanner assembly is straight? I see you did the alignment, but I mean the scanner frame itself. If you remove the left slit glass cover and lightly tap on the main copy glass it shouldn't sound "lose", as if it is not sitting flush on all sides of the scanner frame. If it does sound lose, then the scanner frame is bent, and needs to be straitened, but lifting the left front edge of the frame upwards.

Also check that the adf is sitting straight on the scanner assembly, as these bend as well. The right side edge of the adf should line up perfectly with the right side of the scanner frame.

Are the mirrors sitting flush in their holders? Lightly press on each one's corner and check that they are all in position on the holders.

I recently saw something similar on an MPC4500, but mine was on prints as well!

Yours looks like scanner... Have you set the scanner with pins as per the manual? (Phillips #2 screwdrivers work well)

Print a trimming pattern in black to confirm the issue is ONLY when copying.

I assume the print of the SMC you posted was copied "Long Edge First"?

Do the "Straight" sides have any curve? (if yes, reg roller?)

If you put A4R in tray 2 and select auto reduce enlarge, does the skewed edge change to the short side?

If no, probably optics, if yes, its the engine.
