Thin paper jamming on PRO1107/1357EX production printers - other feed rollers?

Has anyone found a sollution in terms of other feed rollers that assist in minimising feed jams in the above machines.

We have a site that has enormous problems with this, and at present we cannot find a remedy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How thin is thin? If it is less than 80 gsm then try standard weight 80gsm A4. Is it doing it from every tray or just one? Have you tried modified torque lmt? When it jams does it jam in a feed station or some where down the line? Any marks on the paper when it jams?

Polarbear, I have the same questions Max has. That being said is the paper in spec?? (I know customers run whatever the want). Have you tried to adjust the seperation roller tension, by moving the gear on the seperation shaft? There's a small set screw that you loosen to move the weighted gear left or right depending on what you need to adjust for. I've had to do this for a customer that runs NCR crap in their machine.

If this machine has a LCT and they are feeding the paper from it, I have found if you use the rollers from either the ProC900/901 for the LCT and the internal tray rollers from back in the good old days of the 850/1050/1105 should help a lot.

Also if the LCT is an A3 size, make sure you have the tray fan assist either turned off or set to a percentage of around 20 - 40% as the fans are set at 70% from factory and will cause a heap of jamming in the feed stations due to seperating the paper too much.

Part numbers for internal trays are

          AF03 0071 (pickup roller)
          AF03 1040 (feed roller)
          Af03 2041 (sep roller)

          Part numbers for LCT are

          AF03 0071 (pickup roller)
          AF03 1041 (feed roller)
          Af03 2041 (sep roller)

I have to agree with the old style rollers. I just don't think the new plastic ones are as good as the old fashioned rubber ones. However you will have to replace them more often, but it wouldn't jam as much.

              HI Max

              Thanks for the reply.

Tell me more about the modified torque limiter, please. Is there a part number?

I spoke to the engineer who has the problem. He said that the customer is cutting A1 "shortgrain" paper to A4 sheets. The one machine manages these 100% and the other jams out of all trays.

I recently had a PRO907ex jamming at the tray 6 (A4 LCT) paper feed. It was taking multiple sheets into the sep / feed rollers and changing the rollers / torque limiter made no difference.

I found a post (On the RUK forum??) relating to the fitting of a mylar which may help.

I removed the mylar from the feed edge of the tandem tray and stuck it on tray 6 and haven't had any complaints since. I have now ordered and fitted these mylars to the other trays on this machine.

Look in the main machine parts manual (Right hand tandem tray) for the part number.

If your technician has been getting rego jams/ double feed jams, there is also a recent bulletin that has been released in regards to replacing the double feed sensors, board and wiring harness as well.

All these part numbers have been changed and it is a must you replace them all as a set.

                            Update

                            D0596664 is the mylar.

Fits Tandem and LCT trays (On LCT, Use A4 folded in half to find centre) Line up outside top edges of the mylar with the top edge of the tray for correct height adjustment.

I would turn off all double feed sensors for everything they are nothing but trouble. Cant find the part no for mod torque lmt but it will have letter A or B at the end of the part number. if i find it ill let you know.
