C430DN Printer asking to replace Black Drum after only 7k prints

Another Technician has been to this printer and it only has 120k total prints. Only 15k are Black but it has asked for a black drum twice. He has tried pulling the old drum out and putting it back in and of course it still says to replace the black drum. So he replaced it. Approximatly 7k black prints later it is asking once again for a black drum unit. Mostly just text with color accents. Some prints are b/w and color mixed. Could the counter be messed up? I mean that the printer is thinking that it has 50k black prints but the counter is not showing it?

    hhhhmmmmmm........

The machine will use all 4 colours when printing in colour, so the black drum is in use for the colour prints too, the black total is only showing the amount of prints that haven't used any colour. So the black has been used for far more than 7K

Yeah, i looked a little deeper myself and found this out. How stupid really. I understand the whole concept, it's just stupid that they couldn't separate it any better. Thank you for the response though

The logging data will reveal all....

Just an after thought, sometimes these drums don't reset properly. i.e. the little metal plate doesn't flatten out on the PCU, Have a look at the Replacement count on the Logging data, it should only show 2 or 3. If it shows significantlt more, that should lead you to suspect the drum hasn't reset properly.. The count starts from zero every time it resets....
