Ricoh 1060 / Lanier LD060 ADF jamming in same spot every time

The ADF is jamming after anywhere from 6 to 20 pages into the 30 page set, with the entering page going in stuck about 2 inches past the black feed roller bracket (when you lift the adf top cover) and the exiting page about 2/3 the way out. I can pull the second page out from under the original tray. I did a DF free run several times to confirm, and it is happening in the same place every time. Rollers were replaced recently due to slipping, but this seems more like the feed motor heating up maybe and failing? Could anyone tell me if this seems to be the case?

Does the machine throw a jam code? Or does it log the jam in the SMC report? This will help us pinpoint where it comes from.

Thank you for your questions, no, there is no code. It is jamming only in the ADF. I ran a continuous DF Feed from the service mode and it happens every time after 6 to 20 sheets are fed through.

Raise the RDF to it's maximum upper position and give it a good shake..
There are pieces of paper on the registration sensor...

I thought this model had the TSB for the wire harness for left cover on DF, although that may be for the lift table. Clean the one way bearing inside the gear, then relube lightly. If 7-505-55 jams showing, replace reg sensor on DF. Depending on how the techs are pulling the DF bracket apart when replacing belt, there could be cracks in plastic bracket or pick up bracket (B477-2222). Good Luck!

I would definitely try blowing out all of the sensors with an air can. They can get paper dust on them and cause jams. Also, you might check the torque limiter - it's the cylindrical part that the reverse roller is attached to. Sometimes that torque limiter starts to fail and you will actually see it kicking the originals out of the doc feeder causing jams. You can physically inspect the torque limiter and if is cracked along the side it is probably worth replacing even if it isn't causing this particular problem.

You can also go into the ADF input checks and manually activate each sensor in the ADF to see if there is a specific sensor that is not registering when paper reaches it.

Also, the one way on the pulley that the feed belt goes around. The shaft gets glassy like a mirror and cause the one way not to grab the shaft and to slip. Take that feed unit apart and buff the shaft where it gets shiny. Just another thing to try....I have found this to be the case many times.

You said the rollers were replaced Before anything else you need a new feed belt, reverse roller, and pickup roller. Lift up the ADF and remove the 2 screws that hold on the left guide. It will hinge away and clean the sensor underneath. Inspect the torque limiter for a crack as mentioned before. Check the one way bearing the primary feed shaft slides into at the rear. This is an old machine and it may be cracked. If you really want to dig deep, there are a few one way bearings that fail around 2 mil located under the rear adf cover, primary feed area. These are a pain to replace, if I remember correctly.

Success! Many thanks to all for the advice. I went out and first tried shaking the feeder in the upright position as suggested, but it still jammed in DF Feed mode, so I took off the rear cover and blew out the various sensors, after that it has worked for maybe a thousand pages the customer copied while I was there. If it comes back I will now know what else to look for. Much appreciated!
