Where to find a NIC for a Ricoh Aficio 2020d

    Hi,

I just inherited an Afficio 2020d in mint condition which I am quite happy about. However, it has no NIC. I know that Ricoh made Wireless NICs and Hard-wired NICs for the unit, but I am unable to find any part number information for them. I tried calling Ricoh, and they told me that the machine is obsolete so they no longer carry any parts or part information for the units. They could not even tell me the original Ricoh part numbers for them.

Does anyone know what the NIC part number(s) are and/or where I could find one that would work in my machine?

    Thanks,

    Eric

It's not a simple 'plug and play' situation you have. It's a "kit" that's required, including the NIC, SD card, Dimm, and buttons. The "wireless NIC' would then be an add on to that.
Once installed, there are a few service mode processes that need to be performed to enable it.
Here's a link to a good source for this type of thing -although it shows out of stock as of today.

Wow - thanks for the info. I had expected it to be like a JetDirect card for HP printers. Good to know what I am looking for at least.

You mentioned that it was a Type 2018. Does it matter that it is an Aficio 2020? I found a site that does carry it, but they don't list compatibility with the 2020 - only the 2018.

Finally - I have to wonder, what are the buttons on the kit for?! Doesn't everything go in the back of the machine?

      Thanks,

      Eric

It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

        Hit it.

          It's a 2018 "series" machine, so that's correct.

If I were you, I'd grab the deal that TonerMonkeh so graciously found for you.

BTW... If you're not a tech, you most likely won't be able to effectively install this yourself. Don't expect it to come with step-by-step instructions.

I'm not a Ricoh Tech, but I am a techie. I've installed (and configured) plenty JetDirect Servers in the past as well as numerous other computer parts/equipment/etc. Are there not guides or instructions somewhere for installation? Is the hardware component complex, or is it the software configuration that is difficult?

Thanks so much for all your help!

You'll most likely need the service manual for the machine.

Not to worry, you can purchase it for the low, low, price of just $12.77, from www.justmanuals.com . It can be downloaded immediately after payment.

While I can't say he would definitely have the manual, I give a 99.9% chance that he does.
