Second problem for the day. Had a 2035 that was not seeing new toner. Inspected the toner bottle cover that was missing the mylars, so replaced that with a new one, that failed to solve the problem. Passage of toner from bottle to dev unit clear and free of any blockage, new developer, new Td sensor, toner motor rotates, developer rotates, new door microswitches at left hand side of front door, and toner eventually loaded. The other day called in to deliver a new toner after it had finished that last one, went in for what I thought was going to be a two second toner delivery, load the new toner, and, it just remained on the "replace toner" message however many times I opened and closed the front door (don't you just hate it when that happens !). I had no time to muck around with it, switched it off and said I'll be back after the weekend. What am I looking at this time guys ?

Re: 2035 failing to load new toner
Thanks for replies, appreciated. Will look again at bearings,
a brand new Toner Hopper unit would solve the problem.Comment

Check the chuck of the hopper (the cat's anus as it's affectionately known) opens fully when the green handle is lifted. Had a lot of these become packed with toner and/or worn causing the chuck to not open properly giving the problems you describe.
Failing that your problem is most likely on the dev unit.Comment

Re: 2035 failing to load new toner
Update to what happened.
If you can get it to a working state with good density of the solids,
I did a "memory all clear" (with all the associated LD adjustments etc) , and the "replace toner" message cleared and the machine went "ready"..........why, what happened, I don't know. However, when checking Vsp, Vsg, Vsg was showing normal (circa 4.00v) the Vsp was showing 0 , which is not right. In total frustration I loaded the copier into the van and hauled it off to the Gestetner agents' workshop so we could look at it with the colleagues. By the time it got there and we went into the Vsp reading, it was showing 0.17. Maybe an hour of shaking around in the back of the van did it some good. More black copies, "replace toner", toner replaced and loaded correctly ! As to what caused the original problem, I don't know. All I know is that "memory all clear" seemed to bring it back on track. Does that make any sense ?Comment
