Re: 2012 Ricoh MP 301SPF (SSL-Enabled) & Gmail
Um, I might have missed something here, and if so, sorry about that.
But, do you have the machine's sender email address set up? If not, you need to go to the address book in user tools and designate one of the email addresses there as the sender. The machine won't scan to any email otherwise, even though the rest of the machine's network functionality will operate properly.Comment

Attempt a scan and after it errors out then immediately go into user tools and try the print list again. If you still don't get anything then check through the WIM as df3036 suggested.Comment

Re: 2012 Ricoh MP 301SPF (SSL-Enabled) & Gmail
So I just tried to scan to e-mail three documents in a row. There are no entries in the Print List Log or the System Log in the WIM. I don't get why it's not generating any errors.Attached FilesComment

Just for laughs maybe try these DNS servers instead of your ISP
8.8.8.8 Google's DNS
192.168.3.1 Your router.
Even if it gives you an error, it may help point you in the right direction. In our area we have the ISP's blocking outgoing SMTP of home accounts other than what they supply and business accounts are also restricted (pay more for service) in some ways.

Re: 2012 Ricoh MP 301SPF (SSL-Enabled) & Gmail
This is driving me nuts. At this point, I think it's an e-mail only problem.
As of now I can:
1) Scan to FTP (using a hostname ftp.domain.com)
2) Scan to shared folder
But I cannot for the life of me get it to scan through gmail or my local ISP. I also cannot get it to generate an error log for SMTP.

Re: 2012 Ricoh MP 301SPF (SSL-Enabled) & Gmail
This is a quote from a previous post: (not mine)
There are 2 Gmail SMTP accounts one for SSL and one for machines that do not have SSL capability. So it doesn't matter if the machine supports SSL or not. You can use either one on SSL enabled machines, however you must use the one for Non SSL transmission on machines not capable of SSL transmission. There are differences between the 2 smtp sites.
For SSL use - smtp.gmail.com
Non SSL use - aspmx.l.google.com
If you use the SSL smtp you can send to anyone inside your own company and to anyone outside. If you use the Non SSL smtp you can only email within your own company.
If the machine has SSL capability use smtp.gmail.com. You do need an account set-up for authentication in their domain or use someone's email account in the company. For example if ABC company uses gmail. Log into their account and create a whatever@abccompany.com. Log into that account and make sure the new account is active by entering the CAPTCHA authentication. Then enter all the information into the MFP and test. Every email sent from this MFP will show the email coming from the account you create so it is good to be specific with the email account you create.
If the machine does not have SSL capability use aspmx.l.google.com on port 25. This does not require authentication and will only allow them to email within abccompany.com. The administrators email and "Auto Specify Sender" must be on or a sender's email must be from within their domain.
I have this working in many clients just recently as yesterday since many organizations are moving to google based mail. Cities, schools...etc.
Here is a link to Google's explanation. http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/...&answer=176600 This link mentions something about a SPF Record for Google I have not had to do this within any organization.Kittens give Morbo gas.

Re: 2012 Ricoh MP 301SPF (SSL-Enabled) & Gmail
Here is what I've done:
Google Apps:
1) Create a new user "scanner"
2) Logged into the new account and cleared the captcha
3) Verified that SMTP was enabled
3) Tested the account using outlook and smtp.gmail.com (SSL)
Savin Machine:
1) Device Settings --> E-mail
A) Set Administrator E-mail to scanner@domain.com
B) Reception protocal Imap4
C) SMTP Server Name: smtp.gmail.com
D) SMTP Port 465
E) Auth E-mail: scanner@domain.com
F) Auth Username: scanner@domain.com
G) Password: Correct Password
H) SMTP Auth Encryption: Active
I) Pop before SMTP Off.
I've also verified that SSL is on from the actual machine.
2) Networking
A) Generated my own Device Certificate
B) Enabled SSL / TLS
I've also made sure that autospecify sender is on.
3) Address Book
A) Added a user "scanner@domain.com" and specified it as sender
B) Added a test user
What else am I missing? I need to be able to send e-mails outside of my domain and gmail.Last edited by jrattner; 04-10-2013, 09:28 PM.Comment

Re: 2012 Ricoh MP 301SPF (SSL-Enabled) & Gmail
Just for goofs, create a standard gmail account (ie., scanner.abccompany@gmail.com) and try using that in place of the business gmail domain.Comment

Re: 2012 Ricoh MP 301SPF (SSL-Enabled) & Gmail
Teebee,
OK. I will give it a try for shits and giggles. Should I include "@gmail.com" for both the:
E) Auth E-mail: testaccount@gmail.com
F) Auth Username: testaccount@gmail.com
UPDATE: I tried it both ways with my test account and it failed. See attached screenshots.
Please advise.

Re: 2012 Ricoh MP 301SPF (SSL-Enabled) & Gmail
Man, I don't know why it's not working. I've never had a problem setting it up that way, but it's always on the larger mfp's (not sure if that should make a difference). I'll try and get into the office in the next few days and see if I can setup a 301 using gmail.Comment
