Re: MPC3003 MPC5503 SC899
My opinion is that SC899 codes are the new data light blinking continuously. We used to be able to tell the customer it was a corrupt file. Now the copier flashes a code and the customer thinks there is a problem with their copier. Case in point: My customer has 2 MP6002 and MP6000 and when printing the file to MP 6002 the copier throws a SC899 code. When printing to the 6000 the copier data light continues to blink with no error code. I tried the same file on my CLP 27dn and the data light blinks until the file is remove from the printer queue. Most SC899 codes are from files that are emails, printing from the internet or applications like Indesign and Photoshop. Oh, the file prints fine on the HP. Very frustrating.Comment

Re: MPC3003 MPC5503 SC899
Thanks, went to rfg esource and found that firmware was released yesterday. Also I found that in the print driver if you change true type font to bit map will help if the customer is not to picky about the quality. When using iDesign we changed the document format to bitmap. When changing application format to bitmap the job takes longer to rip and the quality is acceptable. Now time to update firmware.Comment

Re: MPC3003 MPC5503 SC899
Here we go again!
Just heard we delivered 2 MPC3003 and 4 MPC5503 machines in 1 customer.
Only 2 powered up for now (1 of each).
BOTH displayed SC990 (SC899 in background) over the weekend.
No Bulletins / firmware upgrades on My-Ricoh (Yet)
As far as I'm aware they don't have fax installed (To be confirmed).Comment

Re: MPC3003 MPC5503 SC899
Was just working on a MPC 6003 today that was getting SC 899. Downloaded latest firmware this morning and upgraded.the 6003. SC 899 still occurred on power up after upgrading when the data in light came on. Powered off and back on and SC did not occur. When data light started blinking, went to printer function. One print job was listed and the status was processing. Nothing printed. Checked job details and found that the job was a web page (.php extension). IT person back in Bakersfield that I usually work and usually will take care something like this herself in a matter of minutes was on vacation this week. The other local IT was going to contact corporate IT to clear the job from the server. After waiting about 30 minutes, we found the computer (and person) that the job originated from. When first attempt to delete the job justed a status on the computer of deleting, I turned the 6003 off and disconnected it from the network. After about 30 seconds, the job disappeared from the queue. Powered the 6003 back on and reconnected to network. All is fine now.Comment

Re: MPC3003 MPC5503 SC899
Yes, Your problem is going for now until someone else prints a file that the Ricoh copiers do not like. The SC 899 seams to be happening more often than ever. I just had the same issue on a MP 6002 and MP 8001 in the same office. I did not check the full extention of the file, but it was a long string coming from a web site. I am instructing my customer when printing from the internet to select bitmap printing instead of true type font from the properties of the print driver or convert it to a PDF than print the file.Attached FilesComment

Re: MPC3003 MPC5503 SC899
absolutely MUST have the LATEST Firmware and also JAVA - dont skimp, DO them ALL.
I have just had this on a brand new MPC5503 - SC 899 about 1-2 minutes after power on, stand alone, not connected to anything. UPdated firmware, still there, then updated Java and fault went away.
Good Luck guys !!Comment
