Ricoh Aficio MP C5503 Bad Sound

    Hi.
As this machine is in a distant location, I don't have the opportunity to go there and open it and look myself, so I ask in this forum instead.

There is a squeaking noise coming from the DF.
I had my customer try to print, copy and scan, and the sound definetely came from the DF as there were no sound coming when a printjob was done.
This sound is high frequenzy, and I wondered if any of you have had this problem before?

In that case, what is the sound and what did you do?

    Best Regards
    Kristoffer

Get the client to clean the DF pickup roller and belt, most likely the belt is slipping (due to overuse) or covered in dust. A damp cloth should work for a while if the client doesn't have any cleaning solutions or alcohol.

This is a new machine. It has only copied about 1000 sheet, and printed about 2-3000.
So I don't think that is the issue.
More like an engine or the controlboard for that engine might be the problem.
I tried to upload a video my customer sent me by MMS, but it wouldn't allow me to upload .3gp-files.

I understand you think its the df, and it may well be - however we have seen loud sqealing from the idler rollers in EVERY bridge unit fitted to the 03 series AFTER approx 2 to 3 thousand pages. We have had to lube every idlers spindles.

        Good luck

Spoke with the customer over the phone.
The noise is there only when they copy, so not scan or print, and I asked if they could hear where the sound came from.
She said it possibly could come from the bridge unit.
So in that case, I will travel out next week and see if I can fix it.

          Thanks.

Maybe it's a better idea to go there and listen for yourself, allthough it's a long drive. If the noise if coming from the DF, it could be a Reverse Roller/Feed Belt issue. But the MP C5503 is a new machine... Better listen for yourself.

Youtube supports the 3gpp file format, you can upload there and post the link here.

A bulletin was released on Ricoh uk tech support site mentioning some early 03 bridge units didn't have enough grease on the exit rollers I think it was and it resulted in them squeaking.

Ive seen a lot of squeeky duplex units as well - the 2 gears at the tp of the door and also rollers near the bottom.

I found out the problem. It was the exit-wheels on top of the bridge unit. Just lube'd them and the noise is gone :-)

Just had two days of training at Ricoh for the Metis-series. The trainer mentioned that some bushings in the Bridge Unit do not have enough lubricant on them when they leave the factory.

That seems to be true :-)

I have had 4 service calls on noise all were the idler roller on the bridge unit.
