    [Jamming] RICOH MP C5503 hang up by duplex prints&copies

    Hi, i've there an intermittent failure by printing duplex jobs.

    Problemdefinition:

    1. Customer prints a duplex job.
    2. Machine starts to print & stopps suddenly
    2. Machine is frozen, no response
    3. Then you've to reboot the device
    4. Now there is logically a paperjam, because of the unfinished duplex job

    What I've already done:

    1. Firmware update -->failed
    2. Change the controller board -->failed
    3. Change to PCL6/PCL5c/PS3 drivers -->failed

    Any further ideas?

      If you leave the machine after trying the duplex job, does it eventually give you an error code?

        Once the customer leave the machine about one hour, but there's no error code /sc code logged or shown

          Kinda wierd one in my opinion,makes me think that duplex clutch has wiring problems,maybe duplex unit motors...I'm guessing some power problem causing controller board to stall,check duplex wires,try output check on duplex motors and clutches with SP5804.
          Does paper stop in same place every time?
          Gears,springs,clutches,sliders,connectors and electronics...who on earth can tell what's wrong with it?

            How old is the machine? Have you contacted Ricoh or your regional support rep? Depending on how old the machine is, you might be able to get either the machine or at least the duplex unit replaced. Usually requires the regional rep to come out and confirm the problem.

                The 4503/5503/6003 series is very sensitive to SD cards. If you can't update firmware:
                1) Use a card 2GB or less(or just format it smaller)
                2) Use the SD card formatter from Panasonic, it is on the TSRC and is a public link.
                3) Less than 8 folders on your SD card. Its a weird bug I have found, if you have too many folders in the romdata folder it will never come to ready.
                4) If this still fails, check 'Extended Security' under Admin Tools and see if the machine has had Firmware updates turned off.

                Also, have you checked for any logged SC codes? If there is none then I'd say you have a grounding issue.

                  Thank you all for your help, but we've replaced the whole machine.
