Here is a question to the chaps who have swapped the Pcu with 171 plus. The vent on top of the Pcu is supposed to stop pressure buildup in the Pcu. have any of you experienced this buildup with the 171 Pcu in the 301?

No so far. I expect if there is an issue, I suspect a customer would call for back ground, etc. I have probably put in 20 or so 171 units and it hasn't been a issue yet and some of those machines get run fairly good (4K+ a month). I have not had one that needs to be replaced yet, so hard to tell what the yield will be at this point.

These machines are crap. So crappy that on a lot of models they forgot to put the Operator left side foot/cushion on the bottom of the machine. What this does is causes the machine to twist and the guide on the right door will not sit next to the fusing unit correctly.

        Things to do:

        1. Put paper under left front corner of machine.
        2. Lube the little "finger" things on the guide on the right door where it sits next to the fuser. This will help it seat better!

There are a lot of issues with these machines.

For that PCU connection error, the only thing that I have seen fix it is one of the boards. It was a while ago but I believe it was the controller but im not 100%

These machines like to have a haloing effect. There is no rhyme or reason. Ricoh doesn't seem to want to find a fix for this problem as numerous calls and tickets have been places for many copiers and there is still no fix. Replacing the: controller, transfer unit, dev unit, PCUs, PTR and other such things will only waste your time and money. Switch to a different brand paper, though, and she'll run like she's supposed to.

These machines are beneath the c2050-2551 series. Just plain crap.
