Brand new MP C3503 / 3003 bypass issues

OK I'm just going to throw this out there.

Has anyone had issues with the bypass on an MP C3003 / 3503?

We have installed 5 in the last few months and 3 of them have bypass issues from install.

The problem is that the bypass will not pickup any form of paper, card or labels, even when settings are correct.
The only way we can get it to feed is by filling the tray with at least a dozen sheets. If we try to feed with less than that there's nothing, zilch, just a jam.

I can't find any bulletins on My-Ricoh and level2 are currently looking into it.

Has anyone encountered this fault with their new machines? We didn't notice it straight away because very few customers actually do use the bypass.

Also, is it me or does the almost total lack of a metal chassis in the duplex make this machine look and feel a little flimsy?

Firstly, correct your post because the grammar's incorrect, not the grammer.

Ironically though, check whether there's a double-feed sensor on these machines. I'm not sure, plus I'm a tad drunk right now, but if it's like the MPc6000 type boxes then it'll read the thickness of the paper wrongly and chuck up a jam, however this can be turned off in the SP modes somewhere or other.

    Right, back to my gin.

      Hi
yes I have come across this before...
its because the paper isn't presented close enough to the separation roller, the metal guide you can see when you look into the by-pass may be bent stopping the paper entering far enough into the pick up mechanism.
when you put a wedge of paper in it raises the height of the sheets so it makes contact with the feed & separation rollers.
the plastic by-pass tray has to be higher than the metal entrance guide when you look into the by-pass unit.

      😁
