pop up user codes of win 8

My customer just went and purchased some Win 8 computers to replace their old vista & 7 computers uugghhh..... They have multiple agents using these computes so they would like to have the user code window pop up to track usage. I was able to set up scanning with FTP no prob. With there old computers I used the print driver editor utility and had a pop up window when they went to print anything. So I downloaded the mp2550 pcl6 driver and driver editor, then added the pop up window just like before, but the window just doesn't pop up Is there something within win 8 that is blocking this?? Do I have to use the new NX editor?? it looks to do the same thing... kinda

Has anyone done the pop up window on a widows 8 computer, am I missing something?

I would set the driver for the users WS to memorize the code.

    Printing with codes is tricky.
I set up users that are not allowed to print color a B/W driver.
Saves the problem with codes for color.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

To achieve pop-ups for your scenario customise a Version 3.x (32/64) bit Ricoh Universal driver using Print driver Editor.

Version 4.x Universal driver can be customised with Driver packager NX, however, your MFD is only supported in Generic mode and as a result you may lose some print functionality depending on the device's configuration.

I had similar issue but with windows 7.

Ricoh's advice is to uninstall all the drivers currently installed on the computer then reinstall the modified driver alone. I haven't seen if this works on 8 though.

I've not been hit by Winders 8... just yet, anyway.

I do know that Ricoh is pushing the NX version, like you mentioned.

Check TSRC and see if 8 is supported, I think it is, and then try with the latest version of the Universal PCL Driver.

As already mentioned, you will most likely need to select the Generic model, due to the age of the machine.

Don't you just love it when customers get the latest OSes, keep their old machines, then demand that we make the advanced functions (such as pop ups) automagically work? Grrrrrrrrr.....

I hope you are billing this lot for all this extra work. You set it up in the first place and then they move the goal posts. Do they get this kind of thing free in any other industry.........NO

Normally if there is a sales person (or a sales manager) somewhere in the mix they get it for free.
