    Ricoh MP C5502 Corrupting HDD

    Hi all

I've got this MP C5502 eating HDD

    Error SC.: 925, 872, 873, 870-08, 860-00, 865-01, 997-00, 990

    So far we changed:
    HDD (x4), Controller, PSU

    SMC attached

Any clue what wrong with this box?

    Have a nice day :-)

This is weird, on inspection in your logging data when it logs an SC code, under SC detail information display it should tell you the root of the cause or guide you in the direction of what is failing but on the logging data you have provided it is completely blank...... Is there any way you can write down what errors are under this section off the logging data directly?

Are you purchasing HDD's off Ricoh directly or going to your local computer store and purchasing aftermarket?

After replace HDD, set network speed to 100Mbit, full duplex to see it it help.
I suspect 1GBit router and cat 5 cable in your network.
I happen to me on the Konica Minolta Bizhub C650 when my client upgraded their router to 1 GBit without replacing old cat 5 cables and causing corruption in HDD (I replaced new HDD, controller, power supple, etc did not solve the problem).
      Good luck! you need it.

        Thanks for your reply

I guess the SC details are missing cause the log was saved after the HDD was replaced.

        The HDD are from Ricoh.

Will try this tomorrow. The odd is that this costumer has 4 identical machines, but only this one causing trouble...

I will let you know if it solve my problem.

          Nice evening to all.

Stupid question I know, but are you sure ALL the firmware is bang up to date??? It can cause lots of controller issues due to certain web pages having scripts and commands that when sent to print causes controller lock-ups (Thus crashing HDD).

Also check that security or caretaker isn't turning mc off direct at the wall at night, this usually causes IMH header problems though, but worth checking.

Thanks for your reply, the firmware is updated.

I have asked again and again if they just cut off the power, but they claim they are not. Do you know any way to check this? Does it show up in any rapport if the power is cut?

Thanks for your time, very much appreciated.

Some of those codes could be attributed to HDD writing errors. Possible psu fault maybe?
Make sure its pm'd properly and there isn't anything that could be causing an electrical spike, check pcu volume, check ITB volume and also check the tx assy isn't arcing. Anything that could cause spiking will cause problems that may not always be picked up on by copy quality issues alone. There was an issue on the 01 machines with the spring ground on the back of the itb not contacting properly.

The PSU is replaced, with same result.

this actual machine has been causing multiple sc errors from start (from new).

I suspect either a pinched harness wire somewhere, or as already suggested a faulty pcu or bad ground, either PTR or ITB.
There was an issue with faulty chips on boards at one point, but they usually cause fuser overheat and associated codes.

Late follow up on this, I never got this fixed, machine swapped with new.
