    [Jamming] Ricoh MP 4000 Jams 8.5x14 in bypass

    I have a MP 4000 that jams legal size through bypass only when copying from glass or RADF, feeds fine when sending print job from computer. Misfeeds are registered as #57 registration sensor, feeds all other sizes fine just legal when copying from glass or RADF. I was on hotline for 2 hours trying different solutions with no luck. Has the latest firmware. Any help would be appreciated.

    I'm curious, what did you check when you were on the hotline? I'd rather not tell you to do something you've already tried.

      Jam #057 has to do with the trail edge of the paper. Check Goose's Guide for the solution. If you don't have Goose's Guide it can be found here on CTN. Just do a little searching. I know it is here because I uploaded it last a couple of weeks ago.

      Her's a hint. When you print, the machine gets the paper size from the print job header.

        8.5x14 has to be displayed for bypass tray.If not then you did not set it properly and machine "thinks" it is 8.5x11 hence paper jam.

          Correct, the default for the bypass is LTR size, the driver command overrides the copy size setting (unless you change it in printer user tools). You need to select the '#' key to change the paper size/type before copying from it. If the customer needs to use the bypass for LGL size permanently, there is is printer bit switch setting to make it usable as a fixed paper source just like the drawers.

            SP1007-002

            0=LT SEF
            1=LG

            This will set the bypass size for copying when width is detected as 8 1/2.

            If you had looked at Goose's Guide, you would have found it yourself. Goose's Guide, your first reference for unknown jams or SC's.
