Most importantly: Happy New Year to ALL!!
I finished off the Year by helping a colleague assess an MP C5000 machine he picked up for resale.
The first thing I noticed was that it took about 7-8 minutes to come to ready. I reformatted the HDD, then rebooted with the same result. Tried disconnecting it. No change.
I was also getting a Document server error, so I tried another HDD which did resolve that issue but not the boot time.
I read that a similar issue could be caused by having a Java card incorrectly removed, and to re-insert the card and then set SP5-401-200 to 0, then reboot without the card. Problem is, I don't have a card, but SP5-401-200 was already set to 0. Would that be the case if the card had previously been there?
I have been given fairly current firmware, and decided to see if updating it would help. One thing that was strange, was that the system firmware installed on the machine was D0295562T and the System firmware on my card was D0295580 so I didn't dare try updating that.
I have no information about what the difference is, or if it's compatible, etc., but I do remember hearing about the change in manufacturing of boards that may require different firmware due to the Japan Tsunami a few years ago, and wondered if that might have something to do with it.
I'm not sure how current the "T" version firmware is, but if someone could shed some light on that issue as well as any suggestions as to what could be slowing the warm up time I'd be grateful.
ALSO......once booted, the machine seems to function perfectly.
