    MPC5000 sc 548

I have the sc548 on the mp5000, i have changed the heat roller because it was dilapidated off the shaft, ive checked the sensors and cleaned them, they are not loose
the code is intermittent , is there anything else besides the IH inverter ?

Could be that the thermistors are just beginning to wear out. I had that bite me in the sitting muscles enough times that I just replace the thermistors rather than try to clean them anymore.
However, you might also want to check that the fusing unit isn't binding in some way, and it's sensors can detect proper operation.

SC 548 is a fusing unit rotation error. The signal from the sensor for the encoder does not change for 0.5 seconds. Could be bearings binding or other excessive load causing the rotation fusing unit to slow down. Also check/clean the sensor.

Another advocate here for checking the photointerruptor on the machine, the little encoder wheel must engage it properly. It often pops out of its mount from rough handing (slamming the fuser back into the machine)

release the tension springs on both sides of the fusing unit.

My vote: Change photo interrupters as they tend to die especially on the earlier models.

              Hi there!
Remove the covers arround the 2 sensors, clean the area incl. the fans and change the sensors (they were modified with more space beetween the "windows".
              Greetings...

Don't forget to check / update the firmware.

                Engine firmware 1.56:08 (and later)

The occurrence conditions of SC548 (fusing unit rotation error) were
changed so that it is triggered only when the abnormal signal is detected 4
times consecutively (previously, it was triggered with just one detection).

I changed both thermistors in the re build
                  thanks for all the info,

Yes these are not adjustable but what we did is we pull both sides of the spring to loosen the tension of it.
