Many thanks for the responses. I just looked at the last 30 days and the volume was 15,600 pages.
It is in a busy medical clinic and the are there 6 days a week.

The current PCU has 30K on it and usually by the time they reach 60K or 70K they need to be changed because they are starting to get spotty copies so i am pretty on top of that.
I did change the toner tray not long ago and for now that eliminated the pile of toner in the tray itself.

I like the idea of plugging up the bottom frame, I will still have to vacuum the section below the drum out, but not filling up the paper tray with toner would be a big plus

For this range of machines AND the mp1600/2000le models I putty up the rivet holes on the base plate to stop toner dropping into the tray.
We also tend to replace the toner supply unit whenever we do the pcdu as well OR every 100k whichever comes first.

I don't have the monthly usage specs for that machine, but 20K per month does sound pretty high for a machine with a top speed of 25 prints per minute.
Heh, you have to admire their patience running that many prints on that slow of a machine. Unless they can afford a faster machine. Then they are wasting their time for silly reasons.
Still, you might want to turn on the PM counter, at least for the PCU. When I've encountered piles of toner in the front of the PCU cavity, it has usually been because the PCU has been used past its life cycle. If I remember correctly, the 1027 PCU's lifespan is rated at 60k prints from the factory - the print quality normally is still OK then but the seal on PCU that mates to the toner tray starts to wear out after that best I can tell.
As far as the toner spilling problems you are still encountering, if you look in the PCU cavity you'll see a slot in the bottom part. If you look into that slot, you will probably see a big pile of toner down there. Clean as much of that out as you can and the toner spilling will stop after a while. Don't use a vacuum cleaner for that unless you are absolutely certain your vacuum can handle toner though, toner will go through many normal vacuum filters like they aren't even there, and you probably will have to put up with a number of uncomfortable shocks from static electricity discharges as well.

I don't have the recommended usage level for the MP 2510 on my home computer, but the Lanier online configuration for the current 25 ppm MP2554 is an average monthly volume of 4K and a maximum of 15K. To be doing 20K a month the machine would have to be running almost 24 hours a day.

I used to Make those seals from 25mm X 3mm weatherstriping cutting it out with a razor. Its got glue to one side that made it ideal to use.

Yes there was quite a bit of toner below the drum cavity and I have to vacuum it out about once a month.
They run almost 20K per month on this and I wonder if that has anything to do with it because I have several that run under 5K per month and they seem to run much cleaner.

Without seeing what's going on, I'd guess there is still some toner in or just below the PCU and toner bottle cavities in the machine. Pull the PCU and toner supply out and look at the bottom of the cavities to see if that's the case. A really bright flashlight is very helpful for this.
This is kind of unlikely, but if the person loading the toner bottle in the machine removes both toner caps from the bottle or pushes the green handle down on the toner tray before it is fully inserted you'll have toner spilling all over the place.

I have an MP2510 with 300,000 copies on it and it drops toner from the front side of the drum unit and falls onto the laser slit glass and down into paper drawer 1.
Only use OEM toner, replaced toner tray and brand new OEM type 1027 PCU.
Less build up in the bottom of the toner tray since replacing but still dropping everywhere else.
What's left?
