[Misc] Default staple in SP Mode?

    Hi guys,

I have a customer who wants to staple every job on a Ricoh MPC5501 from a DOS based program so cannot set it up through the driver.
There's a Lexmark X950 onsite which has been defaulted to staple every job and works fine...
Is this task possible on the Ricoh to default through SP?

    Thanks in advance

    Regards

    TC

    Hi terramobil,

    Thanks for your reply.

Problem is user doesn't want or cannot change settings on WIM as they are at a remote station.

Is it possible to set staple only on all print jobs through SP Mode?

    Thanks again

    TC

Set up a server queue with all of the settings on it that you want and then just use net use to connect to that queue.

      net use lpt2: \\servername\queue-name /persistent:yes

I had to do that years ago with a DOS programme for testing diesel engines and a Lanier LD232c.

i did the very same thing a few years back for a DOS based payroll program.

The customer also wanted hole punch (which the machine. had), so I had to get into a printer SP to get hole punch as an option for the virtual printer.

i don't think you need to do that for stapling, but you may if you want to change the staple position. (Again, that was a very long time ago.)

          Hi Guys,

          Thanks for the replies.

The problem is the system they're running is on an antiquated structure so they won't make any changes to back end system.

That's why I'm trying to default every job to print so the only way to do it is through SP mode if that's available...

Any special SP modes to configure device to staple every job?

          Thanks

This is in printer switches. Maybe you can enable this function, set to staple and then program it as a default. I don't know for sure, I don't have one of these machines handy at the moment.

              Hi Guys,

              Thanks for your replies!
I set staple to default through bit switches thinking it may staple every print job through finisher.
Still didn't work. Customer needs to configure back end system but won't as afraid it will fall over and fail.
I think I've done all I can with the hardware, now up to them to configure device driver correctly...

              Cheers!
