I know from reading your whole post that you said you replaced the fuser entrance guide and pressure roller even though people still made that suggestion, i will ask if you replaced the fuser entrance with a new part or one pulled from another machine because the two nubs in the middle with get uneven and cause the lightning bolt wrinkle effect so either replace it with new or sand the nubs to flat with the rest of the guide.

Secondly I would check as suggested if there is toner inside the crease, if toner is inside but not fused *powder like* its obvious the fold happened after the drum but prior to fuser entrance you can check that the flap on the pcu is openeing all the way sometimes the flap jumps a gear when its someone pm's it and puts the front cover piece on, it will looked close but the transfer deck wont fully open it, paper can pass but gets distorted. Also check the registration roller is tight front and rear try slipping paper between the metal roller and registration roller it should not pass through either end without rolling them.

Also if i remember those trays have a foam roller that paper passes as they exit the tray if the foam is chunked it can distort paper as well. One thing i ran into for a while was toner falling out of the pcu auger back onto the drum which gets over to the transfer roller which gets on the paper and sticks to the fuser entrance on usually the front side end it becomes tacky and paper will catch just enough to distort and wrinkle, you wouldnt even notice it but you can feel it if you rub your finger on the guide it will be sticky instead of smooth. i would start there, if it happens no matter the tray the likely culprits will be the drum cover, the xfer roller, or the fuser entrance guide almost always.

Its probably an dirty fuser inlet ramp. People don't clean them and they get hard toner build up.Try that!

Wrinkling, or pinching where there are toner in the fold, is 99% of the time, the fuser unit. It's usually a deformed pressure roller, or uneven pressure. Try swap the whole fusing unit. If there are no toner in the fold, it must be before the transfer roller, usually a bad bushing or spring in the registration rollers, or something in the feed section, maybe a small paper piece stuck on one side of the feed unit's paper entrance.

Try replacing the pressure roller with the older type on (AE020086). Always use this one as it's a solid core and last forever.

Like this? What we call pin wrinkles, generally in the feed direction, usually on longer paper lengths legal or ledger, branching like lightening bolts?

Not specific to Ricoh, but just generally on all copiers:

1) Check for a lighter fixing pressure setting. The older machines had screw adjustments for fixing pressure. Some of the newer machines have multiple attachment points for the fixing springs. Try a lighter fixing pressure setting if you can. At 28 ppm you only need 5.5mm of nipp width for proper fusing.
2) Reduce the fixing temperature by 5C to 10C.

Naturally you'll want to "scratch test" the resulting prints to make sure you have adequate fusing. =^..^=

Also the pressure roller collapses without warning, as all these have the pressure rollers with the slots in the sponge. To look at it you can't see that it has collapsed, but if you take hold of the roller and run your fingers along it (from side to side) you can feel the roller surface "bunch up". That is a dead give away that the roller needs replacing.

This causes intermittent creasing and jams.

Check for broken rear registration roller pressure spring or bushing...

You might also take a look at the registration roller area. But only if if when you unfold the wrinkles there is no toner there.

where does the wrinkling begin? transfer roller could be cock-eyed and cause it, the feed rollers could cause it. have you tried a different tray? have you crashed it to see where the wrinkling starts?

No, I have not crashed it yet. The transfer roller appears to be straight, but that doesn't mean it is. Will have to check. Thanks for the suggestions. And will wrinkle from either tray.

Is the customer diligent about loading their good quality paper correctly? No dog ears or sloppy fences?

No sir, the customer is good about the paper. no dogeared pages or end fence issues.

I have been working on a Ricoh MP 2851 that wrinkles pages intermittently. I have changed the input guide on bottom of fuser and replaced the pressure roller. The copier is in a doctor's office with decently controlled temp and humidity. Can't, for the life of me, sort out the particulars and was hoping for some assistance from the kind people on this forum. Thanks in advance.
