    [Misc] ricoh 1018d

    Hi Guys

Have an old Ricoh 1018d which came in as a spare. Low useage just 50000 copies. Prints were not great slighty gritty feel and grey background usual dev problems however!!! I have fitted new drum, blade, charge and cleaning rollers. New Dev and new toner installed. Initialised dev as usual. Worked fine first few copies then grey band appeared about one inch wide on back of copies again usual problem when dev is out and again slight greyish background on copy very slight and also the very slight gritty feel to the paper not as bad as before work was carried out). Never had this before usually once the PCU is rebuilt everything is fine. Any ideas would be appreciated.I was wondering if the Dev was bad although it isn't that older stock probably 12 to 18 Months old
    Cheers

Many thanks for that. Stupid really. Assume not enough toner is being pushed through should have gone in that direction. Any ideas as to what would cause it as never had that before
      Thanks again

The shovels inside the toner hopper unit, is notorious for getting bent, so they don't shovel enough toner out of the hopper unit. Dismantle it, clean it and bend the shovel plastic guides (4 of them) in the opposite direction, or replace them. Also check the toner cap chuck, the "claw" that removes the inner cap of the bottle. It sometimes gets stuck and does not grip the cap properly.
