Yes! - It wasn't easy to observe due to the roller's location in the toner cartridge.

A toner replacement solved the problem.

    Thank you.

Take a look at the developing roller. Is there a 5.6mm bare area on the developing roller?

Common on monocomponent developing devices, the machine may not detect that the toner cartridge is mostly empty.

Toner cartridge yields are typically based on 4% fill area per page (for 10K). If your enduser printed/copied 6.5% fill area (for 6.5K) the cartridge is empty. =^..^=

    SL-M3870FD - Faded stripe

    Hello,

I have the following problem. An SL-M3870FD MFP. The counter shows ~72K pages.

The attached PDF file is a scan of two prints:
    - page 1: a solid black rectangle
    - page 2: a page filled with characters

    Some observations:
    • There is a faded (are with last intensity) stripe of 5.6CM.

    • The intensity loss is less severe in the top 4CM of the page.
    • The toner is a genuine Samsung installed about 18 months ago. It printed ~6500 pages (of 10K).

    • The transfer roller and fuser roller look good from a quick inspection.
    • I see no clear obstacle/paper pieces in the laser window.

Any idea what to look for?

    Thanks.
