Customer has a used 4101 he bought at auction. Hard drive had been wiped clean (Not machine format but removed and wiped)
No startup on power on. Goes Grey screen with Main Program Error, Emergency Program Init and the ICU ROM Unusual. Tried USB firmware update and then emupdate_J2.sfu on a fat 32 USB (just did firmware update on a 3100 at same location so USB works). Emupdate_J2.sfu was on root of USB with no other programs, files or folders. USB lighted but would not initiate Emergency Update. Changed name to emupdate_p2.sfu same issue. Tried both front and rear USB ports. No change. Replaced HDD. Repeated all steps the same and still same issue.
Either the USB is not being read or the machine does not recognize the firmware. Firmware was downloaded from Sharp. Followed procedure in Service manual section 9-4 (See Attachment). Cannot get to the point where EM Update starts normally. Cannot get to Service Mode or out of grey screen. Always screen changes in this order, Main Program Error, Emergency Program Init and the ICU ROM Unusual.
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.
